Metrorail Safety Commission Employment

Welcome! Thank you for considering employment with the Metrorail Safety Commission (MSC).

The MSC will become the federally-certified State Safety Oversight Agency with responsibility for conducting safety oversight and enforcement of the Metrorail system. The MSC is an entirely independent agency from the operator of Metrorail, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA).

The MSC was created in 2017 by laws enacted in the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the State of Maryland, as well as by the U.S. Congress. The MSC is governed by nine Commissioners – two plus an alternate from each of the three jurisdictions served by WMATA Metrorail.

A variety of staff positions are available, most requiring rail experience. If you are selected for one of these positions, you will be among the first employees of the MSC and you will be part of our journey toward federal certification and you will help shape the future of safety oversight for Metrorail.
